Nurse Assistant

Our nursing assistants program is based on skill and knowledge of the patients daily activities like eating and bathing. Nursing assistants or called nursing aides, provide basic care and help patients with activities of daily living, Orderlies transport patients and clean treatment areas.

The program duration may vary, but it typically ranges from 4 to 12 weeks. Graduates of this program will be prepared to take their state’s nurse assistant certification exam and work in healthcare settings, such as nursing homes, hospitals, and home healthcare agencies, providing direct patient care and support.

Diploma in Nurse Assistant Program

Duration: Typically, 4-12 weeks (varies by program).

Prerequisites: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • APHY 100: Basic Anatomy and Physiology
    • Study of human anatomy and physiological systems

    • Understanding vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature)
  • ICS 100: Infection Control and Safety
    • Infection control measures in healthcare settings
    • Safe patient handling and moving techniques
    • Proper hand hygiene and protective measures
  • PRCOM 100: Patient Rights and Communication
    • Patient rights and responsibilities
    • Effective communication with patients and healthcare team
    • Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
  • ADLA 100: Activities of Daily Living Assistance
    • Assisting patients with bathing, dressing, and grooming
    • Feeding and hydration support
    • Ambulation and exercise assistance
  • AMP 100: Assisting with Medical Procedures
    • Assisting with vital sign measurement
    • Recording patient information and charting
    • Catheter care and ostomy management
  • ELCCM 100: End-of-Life Care and Comfort Measures
    • Providing emotional support to patients and families
    • Palliative care and symptom management
    • Post-mortem care and documentation
  • CIBH 100: Cognitive Impairment and Behavioral Health
    • Caring for patients with dementia or cognitive disorders
    • Understanding and responding to challenging behaviors
    • Mental health first aid and support
  • CLIE 100: Clinical Experience
    • Hands-on clinical practice in a healthcare facility
    • Supervised care for patients in various settings
    • Gaining practical experience in real-world patient care
  • CLISI 100: Clinical Simulation
    • Simulated patient care scenarios
    • Practicing skills, procedures, and emergency responses
    • Feedback and evaluation from instructors
  • LICPRE 100: Licensure Exam Preparation
    • Review of the state’s nurse assistant certification exam
    • Mock exams and test-taking strategies
    • State-specific requirements and regulations.
  • NATES 100: Final Assessments and Certification
    • Successful completion of clinical experience and simulation
    • Successful performance in the licensure exam
    • Graduation and award of the Diploma in Nurse Assistant

Students have to contact the school administration if they want to take extra credits or transfer credits to pursue the Diploma Certificate or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in their field of interest.  Students will select required number courses in each of the areas listed to meet general education requirements graduation for the A.A.S.  Some of these courses can be transferred directly from and to the university system and may be substituted for recommended courses on the outline.  Students should speak with an advisor before doing so these selective courses are required for all students.
