Dual Enrollement

More Admissions Information

Dual-enrollment allows students to take courses at PHILLY-TECH while still enrolled in high school. Dual Enrollment Options, these options are available to 9th – 12th grade students currently enrolled at a participating high schools or home school programs, and who comply with the following admissions requirements:

  • Schedule an appointment with PHILLY-TECH’s high school coordinator.
  • Submit a letter form of eligibility for participation in the Dual Enrollment program from their high school counselor specifying the courses (units) that fit the student’s educational objectives.
  • Submit a completed application packet to the Dual Enrollment Office, and complete the same admission procedures for program acceptance as do beginning freshmen.
  • Have appropriate placement test scores for Regular Admission.

 

Dual Enrollment students are offered the same status on the PHILLY-TECH campus as any other member of the freshmen class, including eligibility for academic honors and participation in student activities.

Dual Enrollment students who intend to graduate from PHILLY-TECH must submit to the Office of the Registrar an official high school transcript with date of graduation or official GED scores prior to graduating. Through the Career Pathways program, high school students can enroll in a career program of study with secondary and postsecondary courses based upon an articulation agreement signed by the school system Superintendent and the PHILLY-TECH’S President.

High school students may receive college course credit by passing an exemption exam for one or more courses not to exceed a limit of 20 hours. High school students with a “C” grade or better in a high school articulated class are eligible to take an exemption exam. A score of 70 or better must be achieved in order to receive credit for the course.

            The following stipulations apply:

  • The applicant must submit a PHILLY-TECH application, pay the admissions fee, and meet all admissions requirements.
  • In order to receive matriculated or articulated credit, the student must enroll at PHILLY-TECH within one year of their high school graduation date (not to exceed 17months).
  • For computer applications articulation, the software used must be the same as that used by PHILLY-TECH. For more information on the requirements to earn advanced placement at PHILLY-TECH, high school students should contact their high school counselor or PHILLY-TECH.

Youth Apprenticeship, the Youth Apprenticeship program was established to provide connection between high schools and PHILLY-PHILLY. It consists of a planned sequence of courses that link the curricula and programs. In order to participate in the Youth Apprenticeship program, students must meet with the Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator in his or her high school and must fulfill all admissions requirements as outlined in this Catalog for the Postsecondary Options: Dual Enrollment.
